Abbot Baldwin Lodge No.8656 celebrated its 50th Installation meeting on Monday 6th October 2025 at Ashlar House in Bury St.Edmunds. In the build up to this important day in our history; a bespoke commemorative flag was commissioned which will be flown at Ashlar House at each of our regular meetings. The outgoing WM, W.Bro Jonathan Cobbold, was the first member to have the privilege of raising it in the presence of members; guests and particularly V.W.Bro Roger Nash, Deputy Provincial Grand Master, before the Installation Ceremony commenced.
In the minutes leading to 9pm, all those present, gathered in sight of the flag which was lowered to half mast with due solemnity at the appropriate minute and to the sound of the unique ‘Bellamy Bell’ to remember Absent Brethren under the leadership of the newly Installed WM, W.Bro Richard Day.
During the Festive Board, the Abbot Baldwin Lodge poem was recited, one verse dedicated to each WM since 1975, whilst the meal replicated the Installation menu of October 1975. All present were provided with a complimentary artisan beer brewed locally bearing a bespoke Lodge label and a commemorative history booklet kindly prepared on our behalf by W.Bro Reg Rivett.
The photo/s below bear witness to this very special meeting and we thank V.W.Bro Roger Nash DPGM and all our guests for enhancing this commemorative occasion.
